Segari Melintang Forest Reserve
Situated at the West coast of Peninsular Malaysia in the state of Perak and near Lumut, the SMFR is one of the last coastal virgin jungle reserves (ca. 2200 ha) in Peninsular Malaysia. Besides its unique flora that consists of alluvial fresh water swamps and coastal Dipterocarp forests that stretch up its hills, the SMFR hosts rich wildlife. Many endangered species like the Malayan sun bear, the Sunda pangolin or the White-rumped Sharma can still be found here. Besides slow lorises, dusky and banded langurs, black-handed gibbons, and long-tailed macaques, Macaca nemestrina is an abundant primate species here.
